4.6 miles in Outer Sunset
This is the last chunk of the Outer Sunset I needed to walk.
And it was just as thrilling as I expected it to be.
Ooh! One of these things is not like the others.
So while the Outer Sunset is generally a sleepy suburban neighborhood, it does have a couple of points of interest.
1: The Pacific Ocean.
2: A high incidence of schools. This is Sunset Elementary.
I'm not sure what kind of a school this is.
And this is the really impressive campus of St. Ignatius. http://www.siprep.org/
As a rule, schools with waterfalls are not cheap.
I'm not proud of this, but I had to go home and google 'natatorium.' (It's a swimming pool.)
This is a really nice garden...
And this is a really sad mop. Swiffer strikes again. Dang it.
people always bag on the Sunset, but it's really not as boring as people think it is. I think this + your inner sunset walk remind people that there's plenty to see on a nice day while walking !
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite things to do on a sunny Saturday when I have no obligations is to just pick a direction and go walk, and keep on going until I feel like changing direction and then randomly picking another. I've had some pretty amazing ones, like the time I walked from UCSF to the Presidio with several detours...
Poor mop! Ha!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Greg - the Sunset is surprisingly entertaining for a suburb. Once I'm done following my maps to hit every street efficiently, I would love to just wander like that. How fun!
