12.5 miles in the Sunset District
I did a 12 mile walk!! Cross that goal off my March 'to do' list. And get this - not only did I walk 12.5 miles, I then went home, took a shower and headed out to the Stonestown Mall to hang out with my sis-in-law for a few hours. I'm guessing I added another mile or so just inside Macy's. My legs are sooooo sore right now. :/
Okay. So the boundaries of today's walk were pretty much Golden Gate Park to the north...
Sunset Avenue to the west (though I crossed over it at the beginning of my walk to fill in a gap I missed)...
...and 19th Avenue to the East. I have to ask - how many 76 stations does one intersection need?
The houses in this neighborhood are very typical. But there were a few points of interest.
Park Way Terrace is a sub-neighborhood inside the Sunset District. It appears to be where the party is at.
In fact, it appears to be where the naked party is at.
This neighborhood also raises several questions:
What I do like about the Sunset District is all the specialty shops.
I've always thought Irish dancing looked like great exercise...Hm, one day.
This place looked like serious business.
This specialty shop brings us to the church portion of tour. And this neighborhood does not disappoint: every specialty church is accounted for:
Korean Methodist.
Chinese Baptist.
Mormon.
And even Lutheran.
A noteable feature of the southern end of the neighborhood is the reservoir. No, I didn't have the energy to walk to the top of it. Maybe another day.
There was much more to the walk - like all the schools and restaurants but they would make this post horendously long. So for now, I'm going to leave you with this artistic masterpiece to enjoy:
Take it all in...
